American Idol Buzz: Mary Jo Young Releases New EP

They are singing, and America is listening!

This season of American Idol on ABC, is shaping into one of the most competitive seasons to date, with judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie literally giving standing ovations after each contestants performance.

Mary Jo Young, from Cleveland, Ohio, built up a strong social media following through her viral TikTok videos, having only sung within her bedroom walls, never in front of a live or studio audience, EVER. Not even for her Mom.

Casting directors personally reached out in efforts to bring her in for an audition, and the process earned her a Golden Ticket to Hollywood, and a path into the Top 24, performing on a national stage to millions of viewers from around the world.

She had the epic opportunity to be mentored by multi-platinum and award winning recording artist Jewel on the show, and even shared the Idol stage with her, for an unforgettable duet of the song “Foolish Games”.

While her hopes of reaching the American Idol Top 16 did not come into fruition, Mary Jo Young surprised her fans with a new EP, covering 3 of her most favorite songs including “The Joke” by Brandi Carlile, “Ho Hey“ by The Lumineers, and “Hopelessly Devoted” by Olivia Newton-John, streaming NOW on Apple Music.

American Idol airs on ABC, Sunday and Monday nights at 8pm, hosted by Ryan Seacrest.
