2022 Palm Springs Film Festival Cancelled

The Palm Springs International Film Festival will not take place this year, including the Film Awards on Thursday, January 6, 2022 (and all Talking Pictures screenings + “Variety‘s 10 Directors to Watch” Brunch at The Parker). The decision was made due to the recent spike in COVID cases and out of an abundance of caution to ensure the health and safety of the honorees, patrons, and staff. The Palm Springs Film Awards are one of the largest events in the film world with 2500 guests and more than 1000 staff in the room. The screening portion of the Palm Springs International Film Festival will take place January 7 through January 17, 2022 and will require proof of vaccination and the wearing of a mask. The Film Awards will partner with Entertainment Tonight to celebrate this year’s honorees with details to follow. Those who purchased tickets for the Film Awards will be reimbursed. The Film Awards hope to return to an in-person event in 2023.

Palm Springs has, and will always be a playground for the stars, dating back to the Sinatra, Marilyn, Elvis, Lucille and Sammy Davis Jr. era.

“Awards Season”, as it’s referred to within the industry, annually kicks off in Palm Springs with the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala in early January, however, due to the pandemic, the Palm Springs International Film Festival Society rescheduled the 2021 dates for January 6-17th, 2022, including the Film Awards on January 6th, 2022.

It’s more than just a film festival, The Palm Springs International Film Society enthusiastically pursues its artistic and public service goals; to enrich, to educate, to entertain, to initiate cultural dialogue and celebrate cinematic excellence in any language.

Their principle objectives encompass promoting film to an ever-widening audience as a powerful medium that inspires creativity, encourages introspection and compels exploration.

The Society aims for a leadership role in providing an extensive forum for multicultural exchange in the Coachella Valley and beyond.
