In 2009, the LFL (Lingerie Football League) scored quite a ”buzz” in the sports world and mainstream media, launching an all-women’s tackle football league.
In 2013, the organization was renamed the “Legends Football League”, and in 2019, it looked to be on the verge of closing it’s locker room doors for good, before a “rebrand“ was unveiled on it‘s website.
The 8-teams were scheduled to kick-off in 2020, hitting the gridiron under the name of the “X-League”.
Unfortunately, a world-wide pandemic changed the play-book for everyone and the launch had to be pushed back to April 2021.
The inaugural X-League season will include the Seattle Thunder, Los Angeles Black Storm, Austin Sound, Denver Rush, Chicago Blitz, Atlanta Empire, Nashville Knights and Omaha Red Devils.
While games are on hold, no flags will be thrown for organized team practices, as players and coaches have returned, under safety guidelines, to resume strength, conditioning and team drills.
Los Angeles Black Storm rookie sensation Shay Skahill announced via her Instagram account, that she will be returning for her 2nd season.
The Upland, California native is no stranger to athletics, having spent years on the softball field and in the gym. The personal trainer is eyeing a position change in 2021, transitioning from offensive center, to a defensive freight train, with opposing offenses scrambling to contain her.
